Puzzled

~~ My assistant, Spencer, fixin' to be sleeping on the job ~~

"When a man loves cats, I am his friend and
comrade, without further introduction."
~~ Mark Twain

According to the Interwebs, Mark Twain was a man who loved cats, and often owned (or was owned by) several at a time.  There are even, if one searches around, photos and at least one painting of Mark Twain with his beloved cats.

So, here's my question:  How was he able to be such a prolific writer?  I try to get things done - I really do.  See the Sierra Madre History book, and the computer opened to Ancestry.com?  Apparently, Samuel Clemens was able to set up boundaries with his little darlings, a skill which I will continue to work on...  Seriously.  Wish me luck.

    1. A decoy is a great idea! Yes, they do take over a bed, don't they? Spencer is very gentle about that, but our last kitty, Lucie, had me sleep-deprived for 17 years!

  2. Oh, Spencer's exactly like my Teddy! They could be twins. Big shaggy ginger cats are the best. I use a mouse with my laptop, so Teddy puts his paw firmly on my wrist to stop me being able to use it. It seems to be in their genes to lie on our books and keyboards, doesn't it? Has anyone found out if a pet lion or tiger does the same?

    1. Bellis, I have heard Teddy mentioned, but didn't know he was like Spencer! There is nothing like a giant "orangey," as I like to call them. :) They do seem to come by this quite naturally. We'll have to research to see if the Big Cats do it too!

  3. Awww, I'd have an awfully hard time focusing if Spencer were around. But oh so worth it, I love that face!

  6. I wish you luck, Adele, but you might have to get a less attractive assistant.

    1. I think you may be right. It is likely that I'm doomed.

  7. I currently have one cat on the back of my chair, and the other one circling below me getting ready to jump into my lap...They also like to play with the "mouse" and Sadie likes to watch the cursor on the screen!!! But it's Kelly who comes in periodically during the day and nudges my hand incessantly until I stop and pet her incessantly!!!

    1. Oh my goodness, Chieftess! I thought I had challenges. That's a whole lot of love you have to deal with daily. Poor you! :-)
