Glass House

I absolutely love everything about this house.  The clean lines, the serene feeling it seems to evoke, the beautiful sunsets they must experience.  It's an architectural gem.  I walk by it frequently, and was thinking the only downside might be that other people can look in on you as you go through your daily life.  Then I remembered that nothing about my daily life is so fascinating that anyone would bother to look in to see it.  But, this morning I came across this quote, that made me smile and think of this house:

People who live in a glass house have to answer the door.
~~ Karl Pilkington

Now, that could be a problem!

  1. That does surprise me that that IS a house. I do like glass and boy oh boy they sure have plenty. Of course, Adele, you know I will love the sight of the mountain too!

  2. Interesting! I wouldn't have thought this was a residence either! I love the idea of windows open to lot's of light and I'm sure a beautiful view. I'm reading the book 'Loving Frank', about Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamaw Borthwick Cheney....and enjoying any and all discussions about the 'prairie house'...which this house reminds me of...at least in the windows open to Nature!!! Our house up here is a bit dark, and I yearn for more light...

    1. Oh, Chieftess, that was such a good book! It got me really interested in FLW and his work. I got to see his house/neighborhood (from the outside, it was after hours), in Chicago. Last yea, I toured Taliesen West, in Scottsdale. So interesting. I love that you connected this house to Praire Style. I can totally see it! Seems that even if you don't have a lot of light, you have alot of other "amenities" that make it worth it! :)

  3. Maybe the glass isn't see thru.. just gives the illusion? I would hope so. I'd hate to always be sure I was fully dressed... love the clean lines as well, tho I'd pick a different door frame! Wouldn't u? :-)

  4. People who live in glass houses...actually exist! Can you imagine that view they see everyday? That's worth the loss of privacy:)

    1. I'm the same way. I really, really love to look at them, and be in them, but maybe my "style" is a little more cozy (read "crowded"!)

  6. I like it, but I couldn't live in it. Like KBF, I don't want to have to get dressed first thing in the morning! And (don't tell) I don't always answer the door.

    1. Yeah, I'd have to agree. Personally, I may be a bit too lazy for this type of house!

  7. I wonder if it gets really hot or really cold?

    1. Good question! I'll bet the front part must absorb whatever's happening outside...
