Night Before Christmas

This decoration, spotted earlier this month in Savor the Flavor, is perfect for Christmas Eve.  Not only is the art by Karen Didion beautifully detailed, there is a button on the back and, when you push it, an entire Christmas poem is there to entertain you!

Which poem? You guessed it!  "A Visit from St. Nicholas," published in 1823, and generally attributed to Clement C. Moore.  Interestingly, this poem is largely responsible for our current conception of dear old Santa Claus, including his physical appearance, his mode of transportation, and the number and names of his reindeer.

If you're in the mood for a little poetry, I found this video, featuring a wonderful vintage book, and narration by Perry Como.

Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!
