Just Passing Through

This peaceful walkway leads from the parking lot behind the Sierra Madre Public Library, up to the building's front entrance.  I've always liked the way it kind of gets you in that "library mood," as you pass from the world of cars and freeways, and into the private sanctuary that is books.

Speaking of books, the library has just announced this year's choice for Sierra Madre's "One Book One City" program for 2013.   The book is the award-winning "Unbroken," by Lauren Hillenbrand.  I read this book awhile back, and highly recommend it.  A month-long series of events focusing on World War II (the setting for much of the book) is being planned for this coming February, and the library has copies of the book for check-out.

    1. Let me know what you think. True story, and you're on the edge of your seat for a lot of it!
