12.12.12

~~Our local roses make every day special~~

Today is December 12, 2012.  We've had a day similar to this one each year this decade.  1/1/1.  2/2/2.  3/3/3.  You get the picture.  So, unless someone adds a thirteenth month next year, we won't see another number combo just like this in our lifetimes.

People tend to place varying levels of importance on dates like these.  All those matchy numbers are milestone-like with just the right festive flair.  People get married, expectant parents hope for a unique birthdate, and already-born birthday boys and girls enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime day.  Of course, some people assign a much more significant meaning (while others disagree).

Me? I'm planning to go to work, attend a couple of meetings and if it doesn't rain, go for a nice walk in the afternoon.  Just a regular day - special in all its sameness.  What about you?  Any big plans today?

  2. Same old, same old for me too. After I finish my cup of coffee, I'll take Louise for a walk. Looks like clear skies. Enjoy your regular 12/12/12! Lovely rose.

    1. I enjoy days like that, Susan. We didn't make it out for the walk. The rain was imminent, and I just wasn't up for that chance today! Somehow, the heater wasn't really on at work today, and I felt like I'd been sitting in the snow all day long! :)

  4. I love that pretty rose! I sadly did not realize it was 12/12/12, which says a lot about my need to look up sometimes from work, haha (thank goodness there are things like your blog to remind me of other happenings in the world). Anyway, your walk sounds lovely and I'm desperately hoping for the chance to take one soon - it's finally sunny! Enjoy your day!

    1. Thanks, Lulu! I admit that I almost forgot, too. Remembered it after falling asleep on the couch prior to posting, and waking up just before midnight!

I hope you get your walk soon - our sun has left for the moment!

  5. Snap! My husband (Bless him) has been badgering me all day about 12/12/12 and when he saw my blog pretty much insisted I make some reference to it (which is difficult since it is ABC Wednesday). So I can't wait to call him over to have a look at what you have put in your post today :). Done! He is pleased and agrees with me that that is a lovely, lovely Rose!!!!!
