Norman Rockwell Would Have Liked This Day

"Just tell yourself, Duckie, you're really quite lucky!"
~~Dr. Seuss

Some days you just start out feeling kind of grouchy, but going for a walk can help. Here is a partial list of the things I experienced on a walk last Sunday, any of which could perk you right up:
  • Perfect temperature, in the high 70's;
  • A breeze that made the leaves rustle in the tops of trees;
  • A piano student practicing a classical piece (and doing it very well!);
  • A birthday party at the pool;
  • A family decorating for Halloween;
  • The Sierra Madre Rose Float being worked on;
  • A father and his two sons practicing at the baseball field - just the three of them;
  • Trees and flowers blooming beautifully (like the one in front of the J.C. Pegler home, above).

Somewhere along the way, I realized that Dr. Seuss was a guy who knew just what he was talking about.

What do you do when you're out of sorts, to lift your spirits?

    1. Of course, Marie! Why didn't I think of that? If you are feeling especially grouch, you could come to my garden. It could use some TLC.

  7. If I am out of sorts...it is pen to paper for me. I write down whatever is on my mind....and tear it up when it isn't an issue anymore. Your walk sounds brilliant and such a great photo too!

    1. That's a great idea. I am such a procrastinator, though, that I would probably just sit around, grouchily, not writing it down! :) Thanks - I will try that one of these days!

  8. Sounds like you had a perfect day of walking and contemplating, Dr. Suess was definitely onto something! I love the photo too, and happen to very much enjoy walks (unless it's freezing winter) when I'm in need of uplifting:)
