Let's Get Ready For Spookiness!

For me, the best part of Halloween is little kids swarming their neighborhoods in the evening, dressed up as someone pretty or scary, ringing doorbells and yelling Trick or Treeeeeeeeeat.  Meanwhile moms/dads/dogs wait patiently on the sidewalk, and moms remind the kids to "say Thank You"!

Last Sunday, I met the nice family in the photo above, as they were getting their house ready for participation in the trick-or-treat tradition.  They were all having a great time as I passed by, and it was such a nice moment to happen upon.  So, I got my photo-taking brave on and asked if they minded if I took a picture. I am generally loathe to ask, for fear of rejection, but these folks couldn't have been nicer.  The kids even showed me a special area that they had decorated.  Thought you'd like to see it, too.

Are You Scared Yet?  I Am!

What's your favorite part of Halloween?

  1. I love Halloween the best in USA, Adele. It is unbelievable how much effort people put into decorating their homes and businesses. Great efforts too to make things safe. There was a time when I was the only one giving out sweets on Halloween night in our road. But it is getting bigger and bigger each year now. Great photos!

    1. I'm so glad you are helping to spread the tradition! Thanks - I had fun with Picasa effects, to make the bottom photo a bit more spooky!

    1. Aren't they? How fun that your kids got their costumes already. I hope you have a picture of them when the time comes. At least it's not scary to ask your own kids to let you take a photo - that's a bonus! :)

  4. For me, the best part of a SMadre Halloween is when the kids dress-up SM's window storefronts.

  7. I love these fun and sweet photos, and I'm glad you asked! I fear being told no, as well, but I guess if that's the worst that can happen, that's not too bad:) Picasa effects are great aren't they! (I had fun with their Lomo-ish effect, must try others:)

    1. Thanks Lulu! It wasn't so bad! You definitely got me started, with the Lomo. I used vignette on this one - it's a new favorite!

  8. Lucky you. Sweeet! My first Halloween in my then new Highland Park home was met with great anticipation. Then the event. Two trick or treaters. The neighbor kids at that. I've never had one stop by since. Living up a steep hill has it's drawbacks...then again, we're above the graffiti line (as a local once referred to the heights)

    1. I definitely hit the jackpot, getting to see this going on. So fun! So sad that you don't get to give out candy... Did you eat the rest yourself that first year? Graffiti Line - ha! :)
