Bring It On, Fall!

Happy First Day of Fall!

Perhaps I have mentioned in passing (maybe a dozen or so times, but who's counting?) that I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of fall.  We used to call it autumn, too.  Why doesn't anyone around here call it that anymore?

Anyway, to get things rolling, I'm going to have a Pumpkin Spice Latte today.  I know that they have been available for ages, but I like to enjoy my First PSL on the First Day of Fall. Like a little ceremony, to usher in my favorite season (technically, fall is in a tie with Jacaranda Season, but the Jacarandas have gone green-only for now, so fall has pulled ahead in the rankings).

Here's a partial list of things I treasure about fall:  Pumpkins, cooler weather for walking (like that's ever going to happen!), crackly leaves, candles, giving out Halloween candy, my birthday, things that are orange, Thanksgiving, fires in the fireplace, sweaters (especially those that are chocolate-brown), and oh, did I mention All Things Pumpkin?

One of the few things I don't love?  The way my hair gets all full of static and stands on end, just before falling flat as a pancake.  But that's a problem I can live with.  Bring on the lattes!

So, who's with me on my quest for Ultimate Autumnal Happiness?  What are your favorite things about Pumpkin Season fall?

Oh, and next time you are in one of our local coffee shops, keep an eye out for me.  I'll be the happy one with the really big Pumpkin Spice Latte (no whip), and the sticky-up hair.

    1. It's okay that you don't care for pumpkin flavored things - more for me! :) So funny that the Twitterverse was talking about pumpkin spice. Clearly, I'm not alone!

  2. I'm with Tanya: both terms are equal. And I like the word "autumnal." But I'm beginning to believe we're not going to have fall until winter.

    1. I'm kind of thinking that this decrease in the use of "autumn" is a growing-up-in-California thing. I still love the word, though, and am going to try to use it more often. Autumnal is a great word, isn't it? Regarding the actual arrival of fall weather - perhaps it will never happen...

  4. I like that things are starting to get cooler, and I always look forward for it to be cool enough to cook things like soup and stew.

    1. I can't believe I didn't put soup and stew in my list - a clear oversight. Soup is about the only thing I can make well! :)

  5. No sign of the word 'Fall' over here, Adele. I wonder if the word 'fall' has gain momentum because the clocks 'fall' back and the leaves, etc., 'fall'. (When I was playing golf today in the cold, I was thinking about how I haven't found that banana frozen yogurt yet. Isn't that funny!) Cute photo. I am not sure I am ready for Autumn just yet.

    1. I wonder the same thing about the use of the word(s). I notice that all the school materials tha list the names of the season always say "fall." Probably easier to remember, but autumn just sounds so much more poetic, you know? I hope you find some banana yogurt soon! It's a good thing to eat if you're not ready for autumn just yet! :)

  6. I love that the warm temps start to ease off. I also love the changing of the leaves around our city.

  7. I'm late but fall/autumn is my favorite season so I had to pipe in and join the cheer. Yay for fall! Yay for pumpkins! I'm going to make a point of visiting Sierra Madre this fall. If you don't mind sitting outside with one of the pitties, I'll join you for a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yay for fall!
