90 Years of Safety

This interesting piece of early firefighting equipment sits to the left of the large doors which house the Sierra Madre Fire Department's (modern) vehicles.  Nearby is a plaque with the following words:

"The Sierra Madre Volunteer Fire Dept.
Proudly Protecting The Community
Since 1921"

  1. That is a cool piece of equipment! We passed our hook & ladder yesterday and noted it was founded in the 1700s, but no vintage vehicles in sight (I guess it *was* a while ago :)

    1. I'd think that vehicles that old might have disintegrated by now! :)

  2. I love it when police/fire departments feature old equipment like this... it somehow adds to a feeling of community continuity...
